C2C Begins In Two Days with *$ VIA!

Thanks to Jamie and Emily at Starbucks in Pewaukee, WI we have enough VIA instant coffee for the first couple of weeks of our trip! Thank you so much for the kind donation to our ride.

As we prepare for departure I cannot help but run through multipule situations, "What about this? What about that? ...and this would occur...?" What it really comes down to is faith...do we believe God can carry us safely across the USA? God then reminds me that the ride isn't as important as deepening our relationship with Him nor more important than what He will do through us on the ride.

Please, begin praying for us now...and do not stop until we arrive on the east coast. God bless.

We have packed our bikes!

After meeting my colleagues for coffee and prayer I spent the morning boxing up our bikes. These boxes contain all our gear for two full months! May God be gracious to us and may we feel his unconditional love and care throughout our journey.

Pre-Ride Training Gets Tough at 90/90

Biking all over southern Wisconsin has enough challenges with its never-ending rolling hills especially when carrying 40 lbs of touring equipment. Over the weekend I put in 250 miles in 90 deg heat and 90% humility. This is not-so-normal for Wisconsin riding in May. However it is giving me a taste of what awaits us when we come out of Colorado and bike through Kansas and Missouri. Countdown is one week to departure...and the excitement grows!!

Gearlist for C2C 2010

Gear for the C2C Discipleship ride...quality, light, durable and small. There are three categories: (1) on-bike gear, (2) off-bike gear, and (3) camping gear. I have decided to swap the bivy for a 2-man tent in order to have more room, however I need to carry the poles and rain fly as well. With the advice of many come wisdom, so I have also abandoned the stove, fuel and cookset. It is not worth carrying these items for occasional use.

Bike Setup for C2C 2010

Here is the setup...a Cannondale T1 Touring; Axiom Stormfront panniers and a Sunlite rack pack. I like clean handlebars so all I have up front is a rearview mirror and a cyclometer. The bike is fully loaded as pictured. For a list of gear see post entitled "Gearlist for C2C 2010."
